just adams is just me now

so today i have become an intern at imago dei community here in portland or.  the actual date of volunteering started about six months ago accidentally and then a little more intentionally around this fall’s love portland event.  and then a few weeks ago it became “official” when i had a meeting with the executive pastor here at imago dei.  and then yesterday i made a job description and today i am starting work.

i have also started volunteering at a safehouse.  i mostly hate that term and would like to rename the house before safehouse becomes its most common name.  i just think its a home, not a house.  so safehome would work but spell check has reassured me that this is not a word.  anyway, my nights are gone for the most part, but to a wonderful cause.  i will be hosting victims of labor trafficking, which in basic terms means that they have been kidnapped and used as modern day slave labor.  this safehome is part of the transitional and transformational process out of one living situation and into another.  it’s really a wonderful situation, and i could talk about it for much more than a paragraph and will do over the length of this blog.

i have also started looking for work in the video world.  i am convinced that jon collins is my mentor and will start chopping off the legs and mouse clicking fingers of anyone who steps in my way.  jon is a creative director and partner of epipheo studios which offices out of portland or and some small town in kentucky.  go wildcats and your old school logo.  jon creates epipheos with are essentially epiphany videos.  i think he prides himself in the name as he very well should.  anyway, jon is kind enough to laugh at my badly told jokes, unknowingly pass down his knowledge in brief conversations, and even buy me strangely thin french fries from east burn here in portland or.  i would love very much to have 10% of his knowledge or at least to begin building that way.  i plan on tricking him into giving me work over the next few months and making that sort of my part time job.

sldo (that’s also if you miss the home keys by one) i have started dating a rock and roll girlfriend.  i have a picture of her shooting a gun by my bedside along with enough mixtape(cd’s)s to start a small shop in chinatown.  she is quite a catch and lets me watch as much bad tv as i like, including buffy the vampire slayer, how i met you rmother, and daria.  of course she watches all the same shows which is a huge determination as to whether or not you should date a person (i’m kidding).  she is however super supportive of whatever it is i am doing and i would feel silly not including her in my list of very strange and wonderful things that are going on.

so i say all of this as an update.  i have always wanted a blog.  and i always fail at having one.  but i have been consistent lately in my efforts.. i have the occasional tweet.  and now i am shooting for the moon.  this is the start of a new era, and assuming i keep on my a. game.  this blog will have many a things to chat about.  thanks guys!

patrick pelham is “asking for directions”

if you’re anything like me, there’s always been this subtle desire to get out into the world and capture stories.  some people explore the world through music, and perhaps others through writing or poetry.  but for me it has definitely been film. the simplicity and desire that carries patrick as far as the outskirts of scotland or as close as the dive bars and coffee shops of portland speaks volumes to my heart.  everyone has a story, and it’s nice to see somebody out in the world taking advantage of that.

patrick would say he’s from minnesota, however he spends most of his days traveling as far as his camera will take him.  he currently lives in virginia, yet he has found a new love in northwest (as most people often will.) for those of you interested in arts, travel, and yes… even God, stay tuned with patrick.  during his brief yet extended stay in portland he had the opportunity to meet with dan merchant, the mind behind Lord, save us from your followers.  i’m looking forward to some of the footage.  you can look for it here at www.askingfordirections.tv

tumblr is my head

so for whatever reason… i hate every form of social media / blog stuff out there, besides tumblr.  blogs are cool i guess, but they never look right.  plus i just want to share basic videos and pictures and get comments or log everything like a portfolio or have a quick thought for the day.  anyway.  i hate twitter.  i am not consistent with it.  and jon collins said i don’t have to do it.
